DENIM KINTSUGI

The philosophy of Kintsugi has similarities to the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, an embracing of the flawed or imperfect, finding beauty in broken things. 

This traditional craft of joining non matching pieces or “patchworking” pieces together made me think of the artisanal craft of patching denim together to create something new! 
I have always loved how you can take any good pair of old worn-out jeans and repair/ patch them giving them a new life.

“Waste not, want not.”

Here I wanted to embrace this beautiful artisanal craft incorporating denim patchworking, gold beading, and gold thread to repair the hand embroidered pottery like pieces together.
